Arsenal were reported to have submitted a mammoth £92M bid for AS Monaco's French starlet Thomas Lemar. This was duly accepted by AS Monaco with personal terms being the final barrier for Arsenal to secure their man. Whilst this was happening Arsenal were primed to sanction the £60M sale of their Chilean star Alexis Sanchez to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
However Arsenal hit an unexpected snag in the Lemar deal, with the player's preference being to move to Anfield. With Arsenal's own added concerns of the timing on the deal the deal has now broken down. In turn it has brought Alexis Sanchez's move to Manchester City to a sudden halt.
Of course this has left Manchester City seething, however the question has to be asked, why on earth did they leave the move for Sanchez so late? Their interest in the Arsenal forward has been well documented for months as has own contract situation. Should this deal not go through Manchester City have absolutely no one to blame but themselves.
Deadline Day isn't quite done just yet however AS THINGS STAND Thomas Lemar to Arsenal is OFF. And Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City is OFF too. However as we all know too well, you should never rule anything out on the circus that is Transfer Deadline Day!
